3rd Line Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled 3rd Line Engineer to join our IT Managed Service Provider team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting complex issues, and developing solutions for our clients' IT infrastructure and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for 1st and 2nd line support teams, providing guidance and expertise on complex technical issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical problems related to servers, networks, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and other enterprise-level technologies.
  • Conduct in-depth root cause analysis and develop permanent solutions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex IT solutions, including server deployments, network configurations, and system integrations.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery and adherence to best practices.
  • Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to other support teams and clients as needed.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT processes, documentation, and knowledge base.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices to ensure the delivery of cutting-edge solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an advanced IT support or engineering role, preferably in an MSP environment.
  • Expert knowledge of various operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux), networking technologies, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities, with the capability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to work outside of regular business hours when necessary to resolve critical issues or meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications (e.g., MCSE, RHCE, VCP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.
  • Experience with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT) and ticketing systems.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices for securing IT infrastructure.
