HR LIVE: Session 3 – Navigating the Latest in Employment Law with Rebecca Dennis

We’re delighted to share a recap of another impactful morning at our third HR LIVE event, hosted by White Horse Employment. On Wednesday 19th June, we welcomed a room full of HR professionals from across the South West to an exclusive, invite-only session focusing on one of the most critical areas shaping today’s workplace: Employment Law.

Our expert guest speaker, Rebecca Dennis, Employment Partner & Barrister at McCabe & Co., led the session with clarity, energy, and depth—breaking down complex developments and offering practical guidance in a fast-moving legal landscape.

Expert Insight: Rebecca Dennis on Employment Law in 2025

With decades of experience advising both employers and employees, Rebecca’s insight into the current legal climate was incredibly timely and relevant. Drawing on her unique background, she delivered a grounded and pragmatic overview of the key developments employers need to be aware of.

Key topics explored included:

•The Employment Rights Bill: Rebecca unpacked the most significant changes introduced by the new legislation, including updates around flexible working, family leave, and contract transparency. Delegates left with a clear understanding of how to stay compliant and proactive.

•The Rise in Tribunals and Settlements: In light of increasing employee awareness and confidence in asserting their rights, Rebecca highlighted the trends around rising tribunal claims and how employers can mitigate risk through effective documentation, early intervention, and fair process.

•Sexual Harassment Legislation: With new mandatory obligations for employers to prevent harassment in the workplace, Rebecca emphasised the shift from reactive to proactive responsibility—discussing practical examples of how HR teams can implement robust policies and foster safe workplace cultures.

A Room Full of Professionals, Questions, and Collaboration

The event sparked thoughtful questions and lively discussion among our guests, who represented a wide range of industries and organisational sizes. It was encouraging to see such a strong appetite for continued learning, and for shaping better, legally sound working environments.

Feedback on Rebecca’s session was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees praising her ability to deliver expert legal content in a highly accessible and engaging way. One guest commented:

“Rebecca struck the perfect balance—legal updates that were clear, relevant, and packed with practical advice. I left with immediate actions to take back to my leadership team.”

A Growing Community of Forward-Thinking HR Professionals

As always, one of the greatest strengths of our HR LIVE events lies in the connections made between people. Whether over coffee or during the post-session Q&A, the energy in the room was one of curiosity, professionalism, and shared ambition to lead with confidence.

We’re proud to be curating a space where HR leaders can come together to learn, exchange ideas, and stay ahead of the curve in a constantly evolving employment landscape.

We’d like to extend our warmest thanks to Rebecca Dennis for joining us and sharing such valuable insight — and to every guest who contributed to the success of the morning with their presence and participation.
