White Horse are proud to be partnering with one of the UKs leading aviation companies, supporting them in the appointment of a new Financial Accountant. Due to substantial growth following the COVID pandemic, and innovate re-structure within the finance team, this is an exciting time for somebody to start this new position and make it their own.

 

This will be a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the business, responsible for managing the integrity of the balance sheet, playing a key role in the year-end process, managing all transactional accounting activities, including Treasury, as well as supporting in the management of the group’s taxation affairs.

 

Key duties include:

 

  • Manage the integrity of the balance sheet for all group entities, ensuring that monthly balance sheet reconciliations are completed and that appropriate substantiation procedures are in place.  Deliver monthly and year-end balance sheet reporting and analysis.

 

  • Support the Financial Controller with the production of the annual statutory accounts and management of the year end audit process, including production of technical accounting papers.

 

  • Provide technical accounting advice and updates to members of the finance team and broader business.

 

  • Capital accounting – with the support of the Assistant Financial Accountant, ensuring that the fixed asset register is appropriately maintained, that assets are capitalised in accordance with accounting policies and that useful economic lives are appropriate.

 

  • Transactional accounting - responsible for leading a small team to complete all billing activity, credit control, purchase ledger processing and cash processing.  Ensuring that the financial controls for all financial cycles operate effectively.

 

  • Treasury – administration of all bank accounts, ensuring that bank reconciliations are completed, preparing cashflow analysis and forecasts.

 

  • Supporting the Financial Controller with tax reporting & compliance and provision of information to external advisors – including Corporation Tax, VAT and PAYE.

 

  • Owning the monthly and annual consolidation process.

 

  • Leading a small team, ensuring a high standard of performance is achieved and all deadlines met, managing and developing performance, and providing opportunities for CPD.

 

  • Manage and develop departmental processes and systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

 

 

Essential Skills:

 

  • Strong academic record, highly numerate, evidence of commitment to CPD.

 

  • Professional Accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).

 

  • Excellent up-to-date technical accounting knowledge & skills (UK GAAP, VAT/TAX).

 

  • Highly IT literate with the ability to use technology to drive improvements in effectiveness and efficiency.

 

  • Results orientated, customer focused and driven.

 

  • Credible, calm under pressure.

 

  • Tenacious and resilient in your work, with a pragmatic approach to problem solving.

 

  • Experience of managing external audit processes, either from a role in an accountancy practice or in an industry role.

 

  • Good organisation and prioritisation skills, able to work under pressure, proven experience of working to deadlines, and able to multitask.

 

  • Experienced and credible people manager, with a track record of delegation, development, and empowerment, and leading teams to success.
