White Horse are proud to be partnering with a passionate and dedicated wildlife trust who are experiencing an exciting period of growth and development projects. As a result, they are now seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join the internal finance team and support them with the forward thinking plans ahead.

 

The role will work closely with the Head of Finance and Resources to provide monthly information for the management accounts which will enable forward planning which is pivotal to the success of the charity. There is no budgetary responsibility associated with this post, and will have line management responsibility for the Finance Officer.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Income and Expenditure Processing

 

  • Line Management of the Finance Officer who is primarily responsible for the processing of sales and purchase invoices/staff expenses
  • Processing of sales and purchase invoices/staff expenses as and when needed
  • Undertake credit control on a monthly basis to reduce aged debts
  • Assist with weekly payment run processing and monthly expenses processing
  • Responsible for use of the Trust Barclaycard and monthly reconciliation
  • Responsible for the issue of petty cash and monthly reconciliation
  • Posting of month end journals and transfers – vehicles, recharges

 

Income Processing and Reconciliation

 

  • Undertake banking of cheques and cash
  • Enter all bank transactions into the system, undertake monthly bank reconciliations
  • Enter landfill tax monies onto the Entrust reporting system
  • Monthly reconciliation of income collection platforms – paypal, just giving, virgin money
  • Monthly reconciliation and reporting of commercial activities including the Trust Cafés.
 

Payroll

 

  • Process the Trust monthly payroll; including the collation of timesheets and processing of new starters
  • Posting of the journal on a monthly basis
  • Payment of PAYE
  • Payment of Pension contributions
  • Process HMRC year-end procedures

 

Experience & Qualifications Required

 

 

  • AAT level 4 qualification or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in an accounts environment.
  • An understanding of good practice, values and legislative compliance issues.
  • Team management, including the skills to inspire, motivate and ensure performance and timely project delivery.
  • IT literate – Excel, MS Office - Word,   Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with experts, volunteers and senior managers in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • To be self-motivating and able to work on own Initiative.
  • Accuracy and high levels of numeracy.
  • Understanding of, and interest in the business.
  • Awareness of environmental issues.
