White Horse Employment are partnering with a well-established organisation to recruit a Credit Controller to join their finance team based in Frome.
This role will play an important part in supporting the financial health of the business through effective management of the sales ledger and timely collection of outstanding payments. You will take responsibility for managing debtor accounts, maintaining accurate records, and working closely with both customers and internal teams to resolve any payment queries.
The position offers an opportunity to take ownership of the credit control process while contributing to the smooth running of the wider finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring outstanding balances are collected in a timely and professional manner
- Contact customers via phone and email to chase overdue payments and negotiate revised payment dates or payment plans where required
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all credit control activity while closely monitoring aged debt and escalating concerns to management where necessary
- Record and allocate cash received against customer accounts, ensuring transactions are accurately reflected on the sales ledger
- Perform regular customer account reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies
- Support month-end processes including receipting, allocations and maintaining accurate debtor records
- Assist with reporting on outstanding balances and debtor performance
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, developing a clear understanding of their payment processes
- Respond promptly to payment queries and work proactively to resolve issues
- Liaise with internal teams where necessary to investigate and resolve account queries while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach to credit control
