White Horse Employment is partnering with a well-known FMCG business in Somerset, supporting their search for an experienced Payroll Specialist. This role plays a key part in ensuring payroll processes run smoothly and accurately, while supporting compliance, reporting, and system management.

The successful candidate will take end-to-end ownership of payroll for the business, where they will be responsible for approx. 400 employees on a monthly payroll.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
  • Provide payroll administration support, including covering payroll processing when required.
  • Take ownership of the Time & Attendance system, including providing training and improving management capability through trend analysis.
  • Collate and produce payroll reports and dashboards, including monthly reporting.
  • Consolidate payroll data ready for submission to the Head of Finance.
  • Conduct spot checks for payroll changes including new starters, leavers, and contractual amendments.
  • Ensure payroll processes remain compliant with current legislation and internal policies.
  • Provide payroll-related information and insights to senior management to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Collate and produce data for statutory reporting including Gender Pay Gap reporting, P11D’s and Death in Service information.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee data.
  • Keep up to date with pay-related legislation and statutory benefits.
  • Support the People team and other departments where payroll knowledge or expertise is required.
 
You will ideally bring along:
  • Previous experience using payroll software.
  • Experience working within an in-house payroll function.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office programmes.
  • Payroll qualification (CIPP Level 3) preferred.
